More About Me

I have more than 30 years experience as a professional performer of British Isles folk song and traditional dance music, playing mandolin, octave mandolin and tenor banjo.

Largely self taught, I am aware of the difficulties to learning facing students at all levels, and the benefit of good tuition in overcoming them.

Using a combination of music notation, tablature and playing by ear I enable andencourage the student in the development of sound technique, useful repertoire, musical knowledge and confidence.

Whatever your goal -concert performance, joining in sessions or playing at home- I can help you to succeed.

Newly relocated to Central Scotland, I welcome enquiries from students of all ages and abilities. It's never too late to learn.
